FC TRINITY Zlin became the champion of the fourth e:LIGA season

The fourth season of e:LIGA, the most prestigious tournament in the Czech Republic, culminated with the weekend performance of the four best pairs. The newly crowned champion was a well-balanced pair of players from the Zlín team, Marioooso and Matějs, who convincingly defeated Slavia Prague 3-0 in the final. In addition to the financial bonus, both players thus won qualification - to the EA SPORTS™ FIFA 23 Global Series Play-Ins. Ambitious Slavia did not turn their participation in the final into winning the trophy even on the third attempt. The bronze medal was won by the Pilsen esports team – FCVP Esports, which turned the fight with Liberec from 0-2 to 3-2 in a dramatic match for third place.

The League Football Association, which is the organizer of the highest-quality tournament in the competitive playing of the console game EA SPORTS™ FIFA 23 in the Czech Republic, managed to raise the level of the e:LIGA again this year. "The interest and ambitions of the players clearly confirm that the e:LIGA has the supreme status of the most prestigious tournament in our country. We are happy that we have managed to build such an attractive brand. A big thanks for this has to go to all our partners and also to the league clubs that are increasingly taking esports as part of their activities. We are also very happy about the interest of the broadcaster O2 TV Sport, which broadcast almost the entire program of streams on its channels," said Daniel Hajný, sales and marketing director of LFA.

About e:LIGA

The EA SPORTS™ FIFA 23 console game competition has been organized by the Liga Football Association as the first among sports organizations in the Czech Republic since 2019. Unlike other similar tournaments, it is specific in that all the clubs of the highest football competition compete in it. Some clubs have their own teams, some always have a special qualifying tournament before the start of the e:LIGA.

From the 2021/22 season, the e:LIGA game format is and consists of several phases. In the first part, online qualifying tournaments are held. This is followed by an extended regular part, in which teams play against each other once on predetermined dates. Each such match consists of four matches and can end in a win of one of the opponents or in a 2-2 draw. That means the team earn 3 points for a win or 1 point for a draw into the table. The most decisive part of the season comes with the play-offs were only 12 from total 16 teams take part. Each match in the play-offs consists of five matches, similar to the tennis Davis Cup mode. The matches are always finished if the situation is already decided – the mode Bo5 is used.

The winning pair of players usually gets a ticket to the most prestigious international tournament from EA SPORTS™ every season, as e:LIGA is the only competition within the Czech FIFA scene that is part of the EA SPORTS FIFA 23 Global Series. In addition, a total financial bonus of 150,000 CZK is always distributed among the four best teams.
