LFA knows the bids for audiovisual rights
At the same time, The League Football Association continues to prepare for the sale of TV and streaming rights for betting purposes to the foreign market.
The current tender for the provision of audiovisual rights for the domestic market was divided into three separate competitions. The bidders were seeking the rights to broadcast television broadcasts of the first league, i.e. FORTUNA:LIGA, for the territory of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the rights to broadcast television broadcasts of the second league, i.e. FORTUNA:NATIONAL LEAGUE, for the territory of the Czech Republic, and the rights to stream matches of the first league, i.e. FORTUNA:LIGA, for the purposes of fixed-odds betting in the Czech Republic.
All three competitions, which were held in two rounds, were attended by several entities that expressed interest in obtaining the rights. The winner was decided on a single criterion, namely price.
The highest bid for the FORTUNA:LIGA TV rights was submitted by O2 TV, which has been broadcasting the domestic top competition for the last five seasons. The broadcaster will now be obliged, among other things, to provide a VAR system for all matches, including the so-called calibrated line technology for assessing offside situations.
There will also be a big change in the possibility of promoting F:L and F:NL, as both the league itself and the individual clubs will now be able to work directly with footage from the game on their websites and social networks, which will contribute to even greater interest in Czech professional football.
The highest bid in the competition for exclusive rights to stream FORTUNA:LIGA matches for betting purposes was submitted by Betano - KAIZEN GAMING CZ LIMITED.
Pragosport offered the best conditions for the TV rights for the FORTUNA:NATIONAL LEAGUE.
The final decision on the conclusion of contracts with the winners of the individual tenders for the selected audiovisual rights will be made by the General Assembly of the LFA at its next meeting, which will take place on 28 November in Prague. Assuming approval, all three entities will be awarded the rights for the next five seasons starting with the 2024/25 season and ending with the 2028/29 season.
Further details will be presented by the League Football Association after the General Assembly.
